Laura Linney, best known for portraying strong, but weak characters, is among of the most celebrated American actors of our times. Her father was an acclaimed writer, however Linney was raised as an all-only child with a single mother and nurse. During the summers and with her father Linney was able to develop a passion for theater. Her first stage experience was first through Brown University then at Juilliard School. She began her Broadway career shortly after graduating, and then made her debut on television the following year. Since then she has been appearing in a variety of films, TV shows and stage performances. During her career she received numerous awards including her two Golden Globe Awards. She has been nominated for five Tony Awards, and three Oscar Awards nominations. In spite of all the awards and accolades, the theatre is still her passion and she is determined to perform on the stage and on screen.
